Multi-Omics are revolutionizing plant science by providing unprecedented opportunities to systematically decode biological processes. To highlight cutting-edge advances in this dynamic field, GigaScience is launching a Thematic Series on Plant Multi-Omics in collaboration with the Third International Plant Spatiotemporal Omics Research Conference (STOC Plant 2026).

We invite submissions of significant, reproducible research that leverages discoveries and technologies in the plant multi-omics field.

• 1. Novel insights into plant development, physiology and environmental adaptation derived from plants multi-omics data
• 2. Emerging technologies, innovative bioinformatics tools and artificial intelligence approaches for multi-omics research
• 3. Integrative multi-omics applications for crop improvement and modern breeding

GigaScience welcomes the following article types for this Thematic Series: Research article, Data Note, Technical Note, Review, Commentary, Brief Communications.

Manuscripts submitted after this date remain welcome for publication in the series and will undergo the same rigorous peer review and open-access process, but will not be eligible for the awards application.

All submissions have the right to freely choose the journal they want to publish, and are not mandatory to be published in GigaScience.

GigaScience was launched in July 2012, focusing on "big data" research in life and biomedical sciences. It publishes datasets, methods, tools, workflows, and research articles across omics, imaging, neuroscience, ecology, systems biology, and other emerging data-driven fields. The journal has established its own open-access database, GigaDB (GigaDB.org), where all associated data and code are assigned unique DOIs for easy access and reproducibility. By providing open data and code resources, GigaScience promotes transparency, sharing, and reproducibility in research, advancing the development of big data studies in the life and biomedical sciences.
